Writer's picture: CIRCLE teamCIRCLE team

After a promising start at Evia Island in June and the wonderful cooperation with Evia Film Project and Agora Docs, the CIRCLE Women Doc Accelerator 2023 cohort continues this year's journey. Our next stop - Novi Sad, the very birthplace of our initiative. We gladly return to the town where CIRCLE was conceived and continue our work in the secluded spaces of the Petrovaradin Fortress.

During the following days (September 18 - 23), our group will enter the next phase of the development of their projects, with a special focus on building captivating trailers, wdevising marketing and production strategies, as well as learning about the importance of research in documentary filmmaking. Joining us is a team of esteemed mentors and experts: Diana El Jeiroudi, award winning director and producer based in Berlin; Brigid O'Shea - industry expert and co-director of DAE, Joanna Solecka - expert from marketing agency Alphapanda, Charline Branger - editor and founder of CATLIKE; Rachel Leah Jones - award winning director and producer and Marija Zidar - director and journalist.

As is customary, CIRCLE is also organising an open part of the program, consisting of masterclasses by our experts as well as a case study and film screening in cooperation with the Cultural Centre of Novi Sad.

SYNOPSIS:

Lea Tsemel defends Palestinians: from feminists to fundamentalists, from non-violent demonstrators to armed militants. As a Jewish-Israeli lawyer who has represented political prisoners for five decades, Tsemel, in her tireless quest for justice, pushes the praxis of a human rights defender to its limits. As far as most Israelis are concerned, she defends the indefensible. As far as Palestinians are concerned, she's more than an attorney, she’s an advocate.
