CIRCLE Fiction Orbit 2024: Announcing the Cohort of Visionary Fiction Filmmakers

CIRCLE is thrilled to announce the selected participants for the second edition of the CIRCLE Fiction Orbit program, a pioneering initiative supporting mid-career filmmakers in advancing their scripted projects. Taking place from November 24 to December 1, 2024, in the picturesque town of Herceg Novi, Montenegro, this immersive workshop builds on the success of its inaugural edition.


With a focus on creativity, collaboration, and professional growth, CIRCLE Fiction Orbit provides a supportive environment for filmmakers to refine their projects alongside renowned mentors, including celebrated screenwriters, directors, editors, and producers.


The 2024 Fiction Orbit Projects and Participants


This year, six exceptional fiction projects have been selected, each demonstrating compelling thematic and stylistic diversity with strong international potential.

Esteemed Mentors and Inspirational Guidance


Guided by Head of Studies Bianca Oana, a celebrated producer with Oscar-nominated and Berlinale-winning credentials, participants will benefit from an exceptional mentorship team. This includes luminaries like editor Dana Bunescu, producer Dominique Welinski, filmmaker Pia Marais, and Academy Award-nominated director Jasmila Žbanić.


The program fosters a dynamic learning environment, blending expert guidance with the unique methodologies of the CIRCLE Women Doc Accelerator to provide tailored support for participants' artistic and career growth.


Highlights of the 2024 Edition


In addition to the workshops, the program will feature a special screening of Pia Marais’ highly anticipated film, Transamazonia, open to the local public in Herceg Novi.


The Fiction Orbit initiative continues to champion equality, solidarity, and sustainability in the filmmaking industry, reflecting Program Director Biljana Tutorov’s vision of fostering a creative and inclusive community.
